Supervision

The work that I do is strictly Psychodynamic, and this informs my work both therapeutically and in supervision.

I have my own supervision in line with BACP requirements to ensure that my work remains competent and models good practice for you. All the work I present in supervision with you and your clients will be annonymised.

I aim to offer you a safe, non-judgmental thinking space where you can think about the work you do with your clients in a creative, collaborative way to enable you to hold the third perspective in your work and where you can separate what is your material from your clients, using our understanding of the unconscious to inform us and help you understand your clients at greater depth.

We will also be mindful of the impact of the work on you and be aware of thinking about your selfcare and wellbeing. This means thinking about the quantity of work that you do to ensure that you are offering the quality of work that you and your clients should expect.

Supervision is also a place to think about and reflect on your professional development, including CPD’s to ensure that this is a planned process which adds quality to your work with clients.

CONFIDENTIALITY

The work that we do is confidential between us, unless I consider you to be a risk to your clients, in which case this will be discussed with you first.

THE FRAME

We will agree when we first meet how many supervision sessions that you need based on your caseload and BACP requirements and each session will last 1 hour and costs £60.00.

I will expect payment on the day of the appointment and will send you the first invoice on the morning of the appointment which will have bank details on it. After this, I will send you a receipt at the end of every month. My bank details will be on every receipt, and if you wish to remain anonymous, please use your initials and the word SUP for the reference.

If you need to cancel a supervision session, provided you give me 24hours notice, I will not charge you. However, less notice will mean that you will be charged. I take regular breaks, which I will give you as much notice as possible and will not charge you for.

If I am unavailable for a short time in an emergency, I will provide you with details of who you can contact to arrange alternative supervision. However, you can also arrange peer supervision or see a preferred other supervisor.

In case you need to contact me between sessions where the issue needs to be thought about before our next session, please email or text me and we can arrange to talk. Please be aware that I am unlikely to be available to talk over the weekend unless it is an emergency.

Our work together will be reviewed every 12 months to ensure that we are working in the most helpful way for your work with clients. We will also look at the BACP code of ethics every year as stipulated in the ethical framework to ensure that we are following best practice.

COMPLAINTS

As a Psychotherapist and Supervisor, I am a senior accredited, registered member of the BACP (British association of Counselling and Psychotherapy) and adhere to their code of ethics. If you wish to make a complaint about my work, please contact BACP on 01445 883300 or email them on bacp@bacp.co.uk

ENDINGS

Should either of us feel it appropriate to terminate the supervision arrangement, I require 2 weeks’ notice, and an opportunity to have an ending session with you. This will give us time to think about what is happening, and to have a good enough ending.
